What & Where: Zeppelin, Caterpillar’s exclusive dealer, sold 3,550 new and used construction machines in the run-up to and during bauma 3 and generated sales of EUR 461.8 million. Under the name Cat Repair Options, Zeppelin Power Systems offers a range of repair solutions for Caterpillar engines that are tailored to customers’ needs. In close cooperation with CAT and Zeppelin, m:w designed a presentation of the “Repair Options” process.
Experience: The application illustrated the complete repair of a Caterpillar engine to the trade show visitor using a high-resolution 3D real-time model. The various work steps such as cleaning, dismantling, individual part overhaul, assembly and painting could be performed in a simple and playful manner. Skill and speed influenced the points to be achieved for the high score. This was shown on two transparent OLED screens. Due to the partly transparent technology of these screens, the user was able to see the real engine behind it during the whole process.
